Center = centre commercial

J’avais oublié cette anecdote, il y a déjà plusieurs semaines, à un arrêt de bus à Fresno, en Californie. Je me renseigne auprès des gens qui attendent.

– Is it the good line to go to the city center ?

– I dont know.

– Euh the city center, Fresno ? 

– I dont know, ask the driver when a bus comes.

Autre tentative:

– Is this line going to the center ? 

– To which center ? 

– Beh The city center !

– I dont know. Where is it ?

– ?! Beh 

Soit les gens d’ici ne sont pas des lumières, soit il y a comme quelque chose qui m’échappe. Encore un essai:

– Is it the good line to go to the city center?

– I dont know that center.

– ?!?!

We are in Fresno, right ?

– Yes.

– So where is the city center ? 

– I dont know ! 
Is it downtown ?

– (Aaaaaaaah, ok !!!) 

Yes !! I want to go DOWNTOWN !

– Yes, that’s the line.

– (Alleluia)
